Colonial is the most common style designation in the Chittenden County listing data, and it covers two quite different groups. The first is genuinely old, the square center-entry houses of the village centers in Charlotte, Hinesburg, Jericho, Richmond and Shelburne, some dating to the early nineteenth century. The second is the colonial revival plan that subdivision developers built from the 1970s onward in Williston, Essex, South Burlington and Shelburne, two stories with a formal entry and an attached garage.
